ZZ4 or 350 HO???

Ok, i know that the 350 HO has a flat tappet cam, and iron heads, but the deluxe model comes complete with carb and everything and is 3k. A zz4 is about 3,300 and still needs a carb.... But it's got a roller cam, and aluminum heads.... Decisions decisions!!!

The HO has Vortec heads (iron, like you said), with press-in rocker studs and rather lift-limited springs. If you want to upgrade the cam in the future, you'll want to address those items. Flat tappet performance cams are cheap.

The ZZ4 has screw-in studs and decent springs, so cam upgrade won't require upgrading those pieces. But, roller cams are a good bit more coin than flat tappet (although you could put a flat tappet cam in - but, why, would you do that?).

$/HP, even with needing to rework the Vortec heads, you'll get to 355 with the HO for less money than the ZZ4, assuming you do the disassembly and reassembly work. Beyond that, the ZZ4 will start to take over. And, HP/pound, the ZZ4 wins hands down.
