Looking at just a touch under a grand.

I have-

~full 3" exhaust, headers, 4bolt 350 block, needing rebuild. double hump heads, extra stock intake, Qjet.
~running LG4

I'm thinking summit rebuild kit for the 350, rebuild heads. I'm looking for a mild-strong motor, maybe around 290-310hp/330-340Tq. Shopping list is going to include a X268cam, and I'm planning on doing as much assembly as I can myself. I'm planning on doing the porting on the heads myself too. What would you guys do??

Sounds pretty good, but doubt you'll make it for under $1k, especially if you're talking rebore and pistons.

Only thing I'd add is screw-in rocker studs (not sure if double humps had press or screw-in), and valve springs to match the cam. Weiand Action + would be nice, but would probably bust the budget for sure.

Actually, I just found out they are 291's! Happy about that, better heads than I thought. 64CC, 202/160's.

Seems they have a whack of meat on them that could be ported nicely too!
