305 tbi to 350 tpi......Help me out!!!!!

Okay I am a complete novice and have just started discovering the life of an F-body over the past two months.I bought a 305 tbi and i think the motor is very reliable and more then i can ask for as my first car.I dont want to invest alot of money to mod my 205 just to have a 350 stock come around and spank me.I can get a 350 tpi with computer for 700.I will be rebuilding it and adding stuff but my question is about what else i will need to make the transplant a success.

Well the best and i say best cause its easy is to spend 999.95$ and get an edelbrock www.edelbrock.com/ "3502" its a tpi thats a replacement for tbi on a truck will also work an a camaro/firebird. Its alot easyer than tring to plug wires into something that was not ment to be messed with.
Btw did you cut the cat off?

Waste of money. If you're getting the engine and computer, try to get the wiring harness that goes from engine to computer, and in-tank fuel pump. That's assuming you're also getting fuel hoses; distributor; air intake; throttle, cruise & TV cables; engine harness; injectors; regulator; accessory brackets; etc., etc., etc.

Actually This "3502" is supposed to be a bolt on and plug in aplication an easy in and out.
"Direct replacement"
I dont know for sure but it looks like this kit's complexity level is swaping a manifold and splice 4 wires. Fuel rail inlet is in the same location as a tbi.

I looked into that edlebrock setup when I did my swap. The $999 doesn't get you everything such as the fuel pump and I think there was something else. Read between the lines!! Plus I called edelbrock and they said I had to get a computer out of a truck and that meant my wiring harness wouldn't work. So there's another $350 spent sending it to Howell which I did anyway with the TPI. Note that this setup is designed for trucks not our cars. Plus, with the truck computer something would have to be done with tranny and lockup controls. If you have a truck this is a great setup, but it's a pita and more expensive with a thirdgen.

Haven't been to track with new motor
If you have any questions on converting from TBI to TPI email me at jdkchevy70@yahoo.com

That's why it's a waste of money. I have seen the conversion on a truck, it's better than the TBI but not all that impressive (I drove it as well). But, as stated, it is for '93-newer TRUCKS, not our 3rd gens. It gives you nothing you can't get with salvage parts for a lot less money, and doesn't offer any performance advantage.

Repeat, the Edelbrock conversion system is a waste of money for what he's starting with.

Actually it's for '87-'95 trucks. I agree, it is a waste of money on our cars, might not be bad on a truck though.
