will 305 bolt to 2.8 4-speed Transmission...yes!

I am the person who originally posted this topic. I did the swap. I called Jasper engines and transmissions to get the part numbers for this transmission and the v-8 transmission. They both used the same exact part numbers! They told me that since this is a one year only 4-speed GM used the same transmission for both motors. They just changed the bellhousings and clutch assemby. So all I had to do was change bellhousings and get the v-8 clutch assembly. This transmission used the 10 spline input shaft whether it was a v-6 or v-8. I went to auto zone and bought a clutch assembly for 82 v-8. Everything bolted up and went together easily. Since they used the same transmission for both engines the power output should not be a problem, right? Anybody have any comments or suggestions?

no you should be fine. it sounds like they took a 4 speed from a storage bin and put it in what ever car was coming down the line, v8 or v6. actually there's a little more to building cars than that but you get the idea.
