What is a V.A.T.S

I know it's a Vehicule Anti Theif System but I want to know if 93 z28 with LT1 engine had one or not... I'm swapping right now the next things it that module , I've been reading so much about that swap but everybody is using newer engine like 94-96 with 4L60-E and they had problem with this ...

Anyway I'll continue serching but if someone knows I'd be more than happy to know ..

Vats isn't in or on the engine itself. It's basically a circuit completed by the lil chip in your key that allows fuel delivery to the engine. Without the completed circuit, the fuel pump won't kick on, and you'll get no fuel. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Also it would engage the starter. I was under the impression the ecm wouldn't fire the injectors instead of disabling the fuel pump.

But regardless, the starter won't work and the fuel is cut-off.

There is a way to disable/bypass the VATS system. I can't remember where I saw it at but when I find it I will post again.

sorry, but just knowing the resistance isnt good enough. it is a modulated frequency, simply putting resistors inline wont work. trust me, I tried it.

Thats only one of the 15 possible resistance values. It could be any of the 14 others just as easy. I do know that the VATS can be removed from the ECM. It's programed into the prom.

Putting it inline will work. This is how alarms with remote starts are properly wired to start.

I'm saying that I know the resistence of the actual key that was making the 93 engine run, 519ohms is the right value, the one from MY 89 camaro is 490 ohms.

TabOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO subject...

I'll have to agree with Texas on this one to some extent... you need the decoder box to make it work, something I was missing. I had the 15 values, and it was a no go. Its simpler IMO to change the prom to no vats.

Ok I understand now but would it be possible to use the passkey module of the 89 rs with the 93 wiring harness and put the resistor on the 2 wire ??? would this work ???

I know that you can bypass the system by putting a resistor in the cicuit bu tdifferent years had different resistances. You would have to check your key with an ohmmeter and figure out the resistor that you have to get.

You can't use your 89 pasas key with the 93.
You need to match the resistance value that has been put into the 93 ecm.

ok, you HAVE to get the '93 VATS module, only way to do it. It took my dad and I three VERY long weeks to finally figure this out. we tried everything, including resistors, custom circuits, everything, no go
