need help deciding what engine to put in my 89 RS

Ok, first i thought I'd just build up the supposed 350 in my car with cam, heads, bigger TB, various bolt-ons, and eventually a 6-71 or bigger roots blower. Run that until it craps out then build a radical 406 or 454 big block.

Well not anymore, the more i think about it, the supposed 350 keeps sounding more like a 305.
See, supposedly either the last owner swapped in the 350 or the owner b4 him. Just talked to the owner b4 the guy i bought it from, he didn't do the swap.
I think the guy may have just been lying to me. Going to call him and see.
If I can't get any answers there, I'm gonna hunt down the casting #'s and be sure.
i'm pretty sure it's a 305 now(runs like one)

Enough of my rambling and back to my question, should i do a 406, 383, big block, sell it and start over, or what?
What do u guys think i should do?

1. Save up $$$
2. Dream a little..."There's no replacement for displacement" (AKA...502 Crate motor)
3. Plan for everything you may need for the swap (measurements, wiring,.....etc)
4. Buy a beater daily driver (buy a mid 80's Nova...those damn motors last FOREVER and there cheap!!)
5. Tear the RS apart
6. Buy the motor
7. Rebuild the car
8. Devour some rice and kill some 'Stangs

Of course....This is my idea...but I thought I'd share

Oh, I thought that I'd add, i can get a 454 complete, but disassembled for $550. I also want to have the car running ok(like 12's) within a little over a year(going off to college) so i don't want to do a huge money crate motor like a 502.
I have a daily driver, this is just my project.
I'm kinda leaning towards the 454 now.
Maybe bore it to a 460 and drop it in.
I dunno, any advice will help.

Id suggest going to a moded 305 TPI. Considering the fact that gas prices might go up to $3.00 a gallon this year, and if its a daily driver u might wanna go to my setup . Yeah i know its just a 305 but i can blow alot of cars away and get 20 mpg in the process. JUst my .o2.
