changing 305 to 350 (carbed) with T5 tranny
changing 305 to 350 (carbed) with T5 tranny
i'm pulling my L69 for overhaul and going to replace it with a carbed 350 for the mean time. what will i need to swap the two sucessfully? (the current L69 does not have an ecm)
That will be a quick/easy swap then!
The 350 if its proior to 86 should drop in no problems everthing externally is the same.
Are you sure you just dont want to keep the 350 that your swaping in perminetly?
If I were you I would change the oil pump in the 350 your getting just to be safe and to take a look inside the engine.
Good Luck!

I made this swap myself several years ago. If you have already deleted the computer you're sitting good. I have a 72 350 and everything interchanged. If you have any specific questions feel free to shoot me an email.

yes but did you have a t-5 like him?the older 350 use a 11"flywheel,the newer 305's(82-up)use a 8 " wheel...(i.e.,if you put the flywheel on the old motor from the newer motor, the starter is 1"away from it lol!!AND the starter for the older 350 dosent allow enough clearance for the bellhousing.the starter from the 305 will not work on a older 350,cuz the boltholes are different.
mabye if its a manual clutch it will work,i dont know, anybody that does please please email me at:mikeage2@aol.com and let me know what to do.im hoping somebody makes a bigger aftermarket bell for my needs
