Will the original oil pan from my 1974 400 SB clear everything ok when it goes into my 86 Trans Am ?? Found lots of great tips but I don't remember seeing this one. THANKS

It depends on what chassis it is for. Some will clear, some won't.

On my 400, I used the old Z28 6-quart-system pan.

Did the old z28 oil pan clear your stock exhaust? how much is the z28 oil pan new?

 

Yes it clears (the large HO Y-pipe). It also clears the Edelbrock TES.

I have no idea how much it is now. I bought mine about 15 years ago.

It's the one that's supposed to be used with a windage tray, so it has no horizontal baffles whatsoever. I'm using the Teflon-coated Moroso one. It fits in that pan perfectly too.
