Let's say they can be made to bolt together.

You will need a V8 bell housing. The V6 bell housing simply will not work.

The V6 T5 has a smaller input shaft than the V8 T5, so the V8 clutch disk will not work. Word is a 4.3l V6 S10 disk will work with a V8 pressure plate and flywheel.

Don't plan on running it hard at all. You will break the V6 T5 in no time.

You'd really be better off using a V8 T5.

Re: Ok heres what im workin with...

I was stuck with this delima as well. I am putting a 305 into a 91 that had a 5-speed with a 3.1. The v-6 five speed worked great, so it killed me to not use it, but the more I found out, the more I realized that the v-6 tranny just would not cut it and picked up an 84 v8 T5.

The v-6 has a 1" dia 14 spline input shaft v. the 1 1/8" 26 spline on the v8. Your clutch options are really limited with the v6 on the v8 engine. Also V-8 bellhousings can actually be tricky and expensive to find. Around here you can find a V8 NWC T5 for 200-300 dollars with bellhousing and the bellhousings go for $100 plus by themselves.

Once you are done with all the trouble, you wind up with a tranny you have to baby to keep from breaking. This was what made my final decision for me.

Hope this helps some & good luck with your project!
