Swap v6 to v8 parts??

OK hi... Im new to the Camaro motor swapping industry... Im planning on buyin a Camaro with a v6 in it and i have already built myself a 355 to replace it with... So basically since i already have the motor, i need to know the list of parts(everything) i will need to swap them with... and if anyone possibly knows how much it is gonna cost for all the parts i will need to swap it with..

THank you, John

Welcome aboard.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and expense, buy a factory V8 car to put your 355 in. Believe me, it will cost you a lot less in the long run.

If you insist on getting a V6 car, look over the posts on this forum for the last month or two. It is discussed in detail every couple of weeks. Quick summary of the cheapest, most complete source of parts you'll need: a complete factory V8 donor car.

Hey,

Im 3/4 of the way through a motor swap right now, and let me tell ya, Im having fun doing it, but looking back on all this I wish I had saved a little more cash and bought a V8 car. Then again, I got the complete car and complete V8 to put in it for $600!

OK after lookin through everythin in this forum i decided to just get a factory v8 car... it seems evey1 discourages the swap from v6 to v8.. so ill just get one whether it be a 305 or 350 and swap it from that... hey every 16 yr old needs somethin to do over the winter right??

I did the swap and would do it again. It does cost a bit more, but my insurance is much cheaper. If you have to have it done right away, then a swap is not the way to go. It takes time, patience and money

I've done it, the swap isnt that hard, actually i swapped from the car being a LG4 and stuck a complete 2.8 everything in it then back to V8, so its not all that hard, look at one of the other topics i posted the list of things you will need.

My insurance on a V6 car was 3 times less than on a Trans Am. I had both, so I sold the TA and upgraded the V6. Now I am happy!

Warning: If you just give the insurance company your VIN and let them believe you have a V6, and some day you have a claim and they find out you actually have a V8 in the car, they can deny the claim and may even charge you with insurance fraud.

If you think that's worth it, that's your decision.

Forget the insurance fraud. Imagine wiping out a $70,000 Mercedes and getting the letter from the insurance company that they aren't going to pay the claim.

i really don't see why you guys will discourage the v6- v8 swap to someone who has an extensive knowledge of automobiles? A 350carb/700r4 swap can be done ina weekend. I just got done helping my friend put a 400sbc in his 91 rs 3.1. it took us a weekend, 2 full days with each of us working on it. The hardest part was the wiring for the new motor, as he wanted to keep all his guages and and the vats-key. we removed the elec fuel pump and put a 98 trans-am tank in with a custom mechanical pickup. what are the big problems that you guys run into? not flaming, just curious brad
