The mechanical lift limit is roughly the same for either head unmodified, ~0.480" (assuming you get new valve springs).

The lift at which you get no further benefit is less with swirlport heads. I forget the number exactly, but something in the 0.450" range comes to mind.

Catalog pictures often don't reflect the exact part. Call Jegs about getting a single piston. Summit sells them for $12.95 each.

I believe I've discussed my opinions on those head choices.

If you are willing to get 1.94" valves installed in the 416 heads, and give them basic bowl and port clean-up, along with new valve springs, the Comp XE262 (mild) or XE268 (less mild) would be good choices.

That's a roller block one-piece rear main seal block. I forget, do you have roller lifters now? If so, go with a roller cam (assuming the lifters aren't FUBAR'd). The Comp cams would be XR26x's.

Get the gasket set for the block, '87-up. The 350 head gaskets will be fine.

Re: 355 cam and 345np pistons

the motor i have is a flat tappet non roller. it has the mounts and holes for the roller lifters and all that. i just ordered the rod and tonight ill order the piston and bearings with rings.

i am going to see about getting 194's put in the l69 heads and new valve springs maybe get the valve guides cut so i can run a bigger cam. and screw in studs. port and polish and clean as much as i can.

if not just port the swirl ports and put them on.

I've seen used roller kits (lifters, anti-rotation dog-bones, spider, cam plate) on eBay. You'll need the shorter pushrods as well. Up to you which way you want to go.

I'd do what you said to the 416 heads before I'd spend a dime on swirlports.
