350 soon need help
I am going to get a new engine very soon and I am looking at the 350 HO engine and is wondering besides the engine what else do I need that I can not get off my 305 tbi, it says that it does not come with Vortec design intake manifold, distributor, flexplate, torsion damper, water pump, and exhaust manifolds, somebody that has got this engine before can you tell me is there any thing else I should get? About how much should all the extra things cost?
Appreciate it thanks

Well, I don't qualify as "somebody that has got this engine", but since nobody else took a shot, I'll try based on what I've heard/seen from research.
Your TBI intake will not fit the Vortec heads, but a Vortec manifold is available to make it work. Assuming your 305 is '86-later, the flexplate will work, everything else should bolt up although I'd recommend a 350 harmonic damper. The 305 part will work, but there are differences. The 350 HO will be choked by your 305 exhaust system (the 305 is choked by that exhaust system), now's the perfect time to upgrade to headers, high-flow y-pipe through cat & catback.
You're looking at a few hundred dollars in extra things. The exhaust parts can be had for around $800. Figure about $1500 total above the cost of the engine (labor not included).
