engine swap + L/T's and TKO

I didn't know where to ask this question since it is exhaust, tranny, and motor swap.

I am building a 327 sbc with rhs proaction heads. I want to get hooker 2210 (1-3/4") and a TKO 500. has anyone done this swap? i would like to know if the are compatable.

I am spinning this 327 to 8000rpm, so don't want an automatic (for highway rpm purposes, and i like manuals)

would the crossmember for the TKO 500 get in the way of making a good exhuast with the L/T's?

thanks in advance.

If you study pics in the exhaust section of TGO, you'll see that it can be done with the 700R-4, and the TKO will give you way more clearance than the 700R-4.

Shouldn't be a problem.

I can make you a good deal on a set of new 2210's. Where in Colorado are you?

if you are spinning that high, forget the tko, they are not built to shift above 6500 rpm.

I'm not running a 327 but I'm running the TKO600 and 2210's headers, along with a mufflex 4" catback

Re: engine swap + L/T's and TKO

what about 7000ish rpm? what manual tranny will shift 7000 rpm?

i am not going to be shifting that high very often, this is my temorary DD, then it will be my weekend warrior.

i might consider getting a 383 instead to make more power.

that mufflex 4".... is it a kit or just parts that you bought from mufflex?

i would go with the 383. It will make more power, be more streetable and be cheaper than a 327.

mufflex setup is a complete catback, they even make a y- pipe for the 2210's to hook up to the 4" catback

with a 383, will a good forged crank, arp main studs, scat rods, and KB forged pistons take 7000+ rpm?

I believe it would. I have no fear of pulling my motor to 7500 except for possible lifter float and my TKO. The rotating mass alone though I have faith would take it. 4 bolt, ARP Studs, Hbeam rods with ARP bolts.

Re: engine swap + L/T's and TKO

If i build a 383, i will want 500+hp and 500+ tq. are those #'s possible under 6500, n/a, on pump gas??? how often do you run into cam clearance issues with a 6" I-beam rod 383?

I saw a cool article called "mild to wild: ultimate guide to a 383 stroker"

the wild combo made 571hp @6900 and climbing, but they used a $3000 lunati rotating assembly.
