Vortec or L98 Vette heads on a 350

Besides weight, which heads are better? I have read that Vortec heads flow great, but Vette heads will increase compresion ratio to near 10:1. Which I believe is fine with AL heads. What do you guys think??? Thanks

if your not running a tuned port set up... Go with the Vortec's. They are a much better head.
If i remember the vortecs and the vette heads share the same 63cc combustion chamber so the compression ratio will be the same. with the compression ratio the same the vortecs will produce more power than the aluminum vette heads, by a sizeable amount more than likely

The drawbacks to the vortecs, must get a vortec intake, and the wieght, and with eitehr head you will need to replace the vavle springs.

The vortecs should not ping at 10.0 to one on pump gas,

vortecs are 63/64cc, and the aluminum vettes are 58 cc, at least some of them. FYI.

The big cluster**** is getting tpi on vortec heads. Still no easy way to do it until Scoggen dickey finishes their intake!

Yeah, I'm waiting for that intake, too.

Vortec heads share the same intake port design as the aluminum LT1 'Vette heads, which is why they flow well. I have a ported set I can't wait to use. But due to the raised ports and different bolt angle to the intake, different number of bolts and the new 'reusable' intake gaskets, you need either a SD- Vortec TPI intake or a modified stock TPI intake base. I have no info on that, does anybody know or has anybody modified a factory-style TPI base to fit Vortec heads? I'm interested, too!

The aluminum 'Vette heads are 58 cc's, Vortec's are rated at 64, although many cc at 61-62cc's.
