I have a 92 firebird with a 305tbi. I want to replace the engine but dont want to spend 4-5000 on a fuel injection create engine(tpi,LT1...). Let alone spend the time doing so. What other options do I have? Can I make a carb. create engine pass emissions(texas)? I dont know much about this erea of swaps, any help is great! thanks!

quick n dirty way to do it, is get a 350 short block and swap it in place of the 305, keeping all the current FI setup. then replace the 305 knock sensor with a 350 knock sensor, and some truck injectors in place of your 305 ones, and you're ready to go (um, as it were).

 

well i im the process of switching out the 305 tbi with a 350 gm preformance crate and i am just now passing 3000 dollars and almost complete. if you just get a cheep 350 you probably can get it around 2,500 for a new engine but that is doing everything by your self to save money. i put one a bigger tbi and prformer rpm intake and a lot of other stuff too.
