MrPhotographer's Motor Build

Here's Haley's motor build.
I've named my car haley and this is my project thread for the motor.
My dads been good friends with a guy that builds motors and races, and i've been up at the shop with him some and now its come to my time to build something, so we've been talking about the motor build and whatnot and today was the day.

In the shop he probally has probally 50 blocks, and plenty of sets of heads, cranks, cams and whatnot that he's accumulated. well today,we were pointing some out and wayyy in the back we see this motor with heads, anda crank... happens to be a 350 that he got on a trade for some work. came out of a truck. We got to looking at it, its got a double roller timing chain on it and 4 bolt main.

Tommorrow i'm pulling the heads off it, and then we can move it out in the floor and get it on a stand. then we can see what she's really made of. Not sure of anything else yet, if its bored out, or anything.
Saturday morning, its getting fully torn down.

Re: MrPhotographer's Motor Build

thanks. i'll have a camera with me to take a few pictures. if i'm not too dirty.
also, i want to add, that this is a Non Emissions build. So there wont be any computer, or o2 sensors or any of that bs attached..

may try and keep AC though.

Re: MrPhotographer's Motor Build

Got the heads off.. there small valve truck heads.
It ate two valves but the cyl wall is okay we think. but tommorrow we'll see for sure. he said we could sleeve it if it came down to it. We'll get it in the floor tommorrow and inspect it all, and take the pistons and crank out. then we'll see whats up from there.

Good news, is its got flat tops, 4 bolt main, double roller chain. so with those facts were thinking it probally already has a decent cam in it. if it dosent, we can get it re-ground pretty cheep though him.

Probally drop it in the vat next week. Going to get a 01 GP GT monday as my new DD..

Re: MrPhotographer's Motor Build

well today i got down to the shop and helped finish a port and polish job, with seats and guides and install the springs. Also got two pistons out of my motor. The others are gonna have to have the crank turned just a hair to get to the other nuts and so they'll clear to get them out.
Good news, its .030 over. wahoo! so i've got a decent piece i belive.. now to see what kinda crank i got. may go ahead for a 383 since its already bored.

Wont be back to the shop till thursday. more info then
