Attn: Guys with 305 strokers
How many guys here have stroked 305's? What does that bring the cubic inches up to? What is the fuel mpg difference between the stroked 305 and the stroked 350? I'm considering stroking out my 305 but am not ruling out a 350. I would want the 350 more if it wasn't the "popular" swap to make...
well you know this better than anyone else the 305 and the 350 are the bad guys in the chevy small block cuzz for what they are w/ no real power. I just did a 305 w/ a 350 crank (I shelled out some money.) I had to get it remilled, diff. cam you name it. It was a pain in the butt. but for power and cubes "sounds like a big block, but runs like a 327" for the hp I think I'm only getting about the mid 200s. the power band is around 3000 to 5500 RPm. You DO NEED A STALL CONV. or a stick. I can tell you this It will peg the tach! and still hold together. good luck and get your wallet ready..

Stroking a 305 brings it up to 334 or more depending on the bore size. Gas milage 334 was about 23-25 in my car, 383 20-22. </font>

What would the cubic inches be if you bored the block .060"-over? Can you even bore a 305 that far?
Also, jamesbern, what gear were you running in the rear? That would have an impact on gas mileage.

to reply to "87RS402" it was from summit Lunati racer series crakshaft (main 350 small block, stroke 3.750 , pine 2.100 and rod @ 6.0 4340 steel forge it was about 1,100 bucks and the chamfered bearings were around 50. If that's was they use in a 400 I think I'll blow a freake'n nut! by the way it came in a nice box...
