You could probably get a used motor installed for that, but, it would be a USED motor....... Not necessarily a good thing.
You can buy a NEW motor for about that money, but, then you would have to have it installed. More money......
You will also run into trouble if you change induction systems. (tbi to tpi.....) If you are having someone else do the work, this can be translated to "big bucks".......
There are a lot of folks out there that remanufacture GM engines, and you can get just about any combination you could think of, but, the more esoteric it is, the more epxensive it will be. I think GM sells crate motors (pretty much a complete engine, less induction....) for pretty cheap for a replacement motor. (i.e. nothing special...)
Or, you could spend a grand on a beater, drive that while you save money to do your engine swap right.
Or, you could replace your headgaskets... and continue to drive your camaro.... You could prolly do the gaskets for under 300 bucks, paying someone else, or under 100 if you do it yourself.
Good luck.

GM makes a crate motor for 1200. you would have to install it yourself though. it's a 350 4 bolt main that put's out about 240 HP. Go to www.paceparts.com
