I just would like to be different. I don't want a 350 or a 383 or a 400 so I'd like to go with a 427. Even to make the job tougher, it's going into an original 91 Firebird (V6). Doesn't Merlin make a new block? Thanks.

Don't worry, this will be very well planned out. I'm glad to hear 427 small blocks are still made. Just one question, are all small blocks whether it be a 305, 327, 350, 383, 400, or 427 the same on the outside? I was told that physically they are the same on the outside, just the bores and strokes are different.

QwkTrip, I do realize what I'm trying to do and I honestly believe your price is conservative. Hell, just the suspension and brakes are gonna cost about $10,000. Money is not a problem. I'm building this car as my dream car, the way I envision it.

Okay then....
The engine block you're talking about are manufactured by World Castings. Their website is http://www.worldcastings.com . Frankly, if you want a big inch small block and you don't mind spending some money I would get a new Olds Rocket 350 block which can be bored and stroked to rediculous numbers and use the Chevy 18 degree heads. That would be a rockin' motor. Easy 600+ Hp naturually aspirated and still streetable.
Another option is to wait for the release of the upcoming Banks twin turbo kit and put is on a factory based Chevy 350 small block. The turbo would quite down the exhaust and make it a serious sleeper.... heck just a serious car period.

Just read in Super Chevy today that the WC 427 is soon to get fuel injection
That'd be a nice setup.

Yea, I saw that Gale Banks turbo setup in a previous post. Looks freakin' awesome! I really really would like to have one like that in my car.
You think a 350 would work better under that than a 427? It would be more streetable?

Engine displacement is less of a factor for a turbocharged street driven V8. Basically, it can make more power with a 350 then you'll even be able to use. Going 427 and with turbos is pointless.

Okay, I follow what you're saying.
I'm basically just thinking about engine choices that are out there. I want to do something you wouldn't see everyday. As nice as a 427 SB sounds, I think I'm pretty much set on a ZZ4 shortblock and going from there. I'd like to stick with TBI cause it looks so cool. And, I recently found out that turbocity no longer carries the dual throttle body setup.
I'll have to make my own now.

You do have to know, Gale Banks has had a 500hp, 600hp, and 700hp twin turbo kits for almost twenty years know. Remember he took a 600hp unit in a 83 or 84 TA over 200 mph in Car and Driver.
Yes I still have the issue.
