4.3

has anyone ever done the 4.3 turbo swap nnto a 3rd gen?seems more practical thann the 3.8.same motor mounts bellhousing bolt pattern etc.even if you dont have the engine tthere are tons of astro vans out there with 4.3's that need a rebuild anyway so forge em and boost em what do you think?

i have a 4.3 in a drag car. the motor mounts are differant and as far as i know there are no forged cranks for them. most parts you have to buy for a v8 so you end up with lots of spares. all in all it's been way more work and expense than a v8 would of been

the 3.8 is only more pratical because GM made so many more of them. The turbo 4.3 is rare from the facotry. All the Buick turbo pieces are bullet proof. Most get reused easily. To have the same to a run of the mill 4.3 you would spend big bucks on exotic pieces.

a lot of people like the 3.8 but i am part of a gn site and once you get to the point where you need a cam guess what there is about one place you can get one and it's machined from solid billet cause they chew up the cam, clogg the oil filter and bye bye 3.8.and there are no facttory shortblocks avalable anymore that's my only reason for consderation
