I have a friend who wants to get rid of a 89 305,TBI TA/auto w/a dead engine.The body is in good shape and recent paint job.I can have the car for free.
I also have an apportunity to get a 4.3 from a police Caprice(free).It could be a good project.
Would that combo work well? What's the HP on a 4.3? I haven't seen the 4.3 ever mentioned here. Why? Are there any 4.3 hi-performance mods available?Were the police car 4.3 any different from the regular ones?

The reason not much is mentioned in here about the 4.3 is that it is basically a 350 with the back 2 cylinders cut off, so most people with a 4.3 talk in the v8 room because they're SO similar. our 6's are a lil different. But I'm not sure on the numbers, sorry I can't help ya.

A 4.3 offers many options and could be a lot of fun.... As wit hany engine swap or project like this I feel a rebuild is necessary for the piece of mind you will get you know you won't have to pull it for atleast 100,000 miles....
