Would this work??

Trying to line up a decent rebuilt engine that will bump the L98 power a little and not break the bank for my 1989 Formula.
I have found a rebuilt 350 late 80's block.
I found some vortec heads cast 906.
I know I will have to pony up the dough for a Vortec/TPI intake.
Will this setup work fine? Just learning about all of this technical stuff so I thought I would ask.
Thanks

Go with a Holley Stealth Ram intake, it's cheaper than the vortec TPI base and you get more top end power.

Don't buy 906's, they suck. You want 4681? I believe it is but google it to double check.

Re: Would this work??

So the 906's won't outperform stock heads?
Also if I go with the 906's on top of a 350 block will I need to mess with the prom or will all of the computer stuff work ok?
From reading all over this site and others the 906 sound fine.

From what I read you have to buy fuel rails and the cost goes over the vortec tpi manifold. It also looks to be higher than the stock plenum.

Re: Would this work??

906's are fine, there was originally some argument that they were meant for HD applications and didn't get as well a flowing valve job (valve seat inserts?) in exchange for durability, but they are basically the same port and chamber design.

They should be significantly better than the late 80's 350 heads.
