in the 12s?

Within a year I'd like to swap the LB9 for something that will put me in the 12s. I'd like some opinions on the best bang for the buck to get me there. Should I do an LT1 swap, have an engine built, find some other used engine, etc. Also, what else will I have to beef up to handle the power? Will the stock tranny, clutch, and rear end hold up? The car will not be my daily driver, but I want something reliable that will run on pump gas, preferably N/A. Also, since it's a 1LE would you guys recommend keeping the original engine? It has some basic performance upgrades, so it's not original. Thanks in advance for the opinions.

If I were you I wouldn't touch the car. I'd leave it original. 3rd gens don't sell for that much. Pick one up with a bad drivetrain and then do your buildup. That 1LE has a very good chance of being collectible. Sort of like the 69 Z28s(or was it the SSs) with the 302. Leave it the way it is.

I thought about going to a carb, but wasn't sure what it would take to change it over. It would be alot easier just to buy a crate motor with a carb. I think if I do the engine swap I'll keep the original engine just in case 1LEs do become collectable.

If you must go 12's get another motor
and a richmond trans a 383 should put
you in the 12's.But you should leave
that car alone.Maybe get a cheap one
with a blown motor or trans .
