is swapping a 2.8 mfi to a v8 carb difficult?
I am wanting to take out my 2.8 mfi in my 85 berlinetta and changing it to a carbureted v8. Will I be getting in over my head or is this a reasonable process? All help is greatly appreciated.

it all depends on how much you can spend and how much you can do. This swap will require an entirely new engine, intake, exaust, carb, ecm, and the biggest pain, a transmission. You can pick these up used in good shape for some money though or find a donor car (aka a 305 f-body) and use everything but switch the block. This is your cheapest way.

I'm right smack dab in the middle of the process right now. Most of the headaches have been taken care of and/or figured out. I don't have web access very often, email me at dtuom@juno.com if you want any helpful hints, any questions, anything I could help you with. Good luck.

um incase you didnt know the q-jets on these things are completely electronically controlled. If he goes with a non comp controlled carb, wont the computer freak especially if it cant recognize injecors or any fuel control at all? Not to mention the starter and distributer and O2 sensor. He needs to find a donor v8 fbody and strip all electronics and everything.. Not to mention the fact of emissions.
