ok I have no power to anything after swaping out tpi to carb not all the way done yet need carb and headers yet. so i hooked up the battery and i have no head lights or power inside the car. I do have power to the red wire on the alt. thats it. also i dont have the dist. and or the voltage reg hooked up yet. please bear with me i havent done any car work for about 25 years. my son and i are working on this car for fun. I followed the threads on this site to take the ecm out and the wires. and i still have alot of wires left i did that so i would be safe and not have this happen to me. any help would be great.. the car is (was) 305 tpi 1988 iroc. now its a 357 with bgger cam gm performance intake and soon to be 650 double pumper. help me.

 

How many wires are going to your starter? Most times the main power runs off the starter bat terminal.

 

check all your grounds too. should have one or more on EACH back of head, and then block to negative batt....maybe some more can't remember.

 

Voltage reg???

The only power that doesn't come off the starter battery terminal is the ECM.

 

I have five wires on the big stud on the starter and 1 on the small for a total of 6. I did find a couple of black wires at the back of the block with eyelets on then . I will ground these and see if this works will let you know thank you.

 

i did get a small peep noise fromr the car after all of this for a second. I think now the battery is dead.
