Another Engine buildup... long, but I'm desperate for help.

Ok Im taking out the 305 TPI and putting in a 1970 350 from a Monte Carlo. I swapped the "441" heads for "882" heads, a Torker II intake and a holley 750 double pumper. The cam is mild I think, both my dad and me forget the specs, but it gave the Monte a sweet/ rough sounding idle. With the 441 heads the monte did a best of 14.1 ET. How much better will these 882 do? The 441's had 76cc chambers, the 882's have 75cc chambers, but the intake and exhaust valves are same size on both. Does this mean the 882's will give me more compression? How much horsepower should this combo give me?

I need all the help I can get.

Thanks
Dave

Well I can't give a hp estimate. I honestly don't know. But I do know the mid-lift flow of the 882's are a lot better that the 441's. A 70 Monte is heavy. A lot heavier than a third gen. I would say 13.5 area maybe in a third gen is possible with your set up. The 882 is good for torque due to the 151cc intake, but the 441 still had 155cc.

So how does all of this figure out. 151cc to 155cc. the 441 had bigger intake cc so does that mean it allowed more fuel, does having 151cc over 155cc bump up my compression is that why I'll have more torque. Do you think it was for better or for worse that I swapped heads?

882's are pretty crappy, the 441's are the camel hump heads with 194/150's or 202/160's with the big ports, the 882 with have 172/150 's (i dont think they had anything bigger) but most all the stock heads are pretty crappy anyway you look at it.

If ya want a good factory head, fnd a set of
camelbacks with accessory holes '69 and later 302,s 327, 350 z28 LT1 Castings end in
186,041,040,292,492 etc. They port out nicely with a set of 2.02/1.6 valves or get Vortecs and a Vortec intake. Or go aftermarket. Don't waist your time with the smog heads. Dump that torker II. Go with an RPM, Stealth or Vic Jr.

Actually the 882's have 1.96/1.50
They were used starting late 70's through to the late 80's. The are also said to be prone to cracking. If i were you, i would definetly keep the 441's. They have way more potential & are one othe the decent flowing large chamber GM factory head.
