someone needs to do this!

Someone with cash should buy a new Corvette Z06 motor (LS6) and put it in a third gen with a T56 and a 4.56 gear. These motors absolutely rock and I would love to see one in a third gen.

While you're at it, send the heads off to lingenfelter and put a cam in it!

The advantages of a new and fuel injected engine are great. Reliable cold start up, optimized spark and fuel delivery and excellent drivability at all rpms.

The fact that these motors can easily make 450 hp and act stock is excellent. Try making a reliable and stock sounding 450 horse small block with a carb.

Plus, it would look really cool!

Nice idea, but...
I wouldnt use the T56, too many problems with the clutch. Besides, autos are better for drag racing.
Why get the LS6? You can easily build up a LS1 and it will be a heck of alot cheaper.

sticks rule. The LS1s with the t56 got their clutch situation fixed. They use z06 clutches now.

really, the price diff between an LS6 and an LS1 has to be negligible. Plus you have to factor in the better flowing heads on the LS6.

Also, a manual trans is always better, i don't care if it is stronger or what...it's just that much cooler!

Try a GM Performance parts dealer.

Jim Pace Chevrolet advertises a lot in hot Rod and Car Craft mags. There are other dealers, try a search on yahoo.

Tas, thats not what I heard...

Anyway, its a POS setup and I personally would not take the chance of the clutch going up in smoke at WOT doing 30MPH.

F... FI.

For the $4000 or so difference, i'll sit in the car and feather the gas for a few minutes if it's cold.

How bout that fuel economy with your T10?

I'd give a lot of credit to someone for trying it rather than the super common small block.

I was actually thinking about doing that to mine a couple months ago. Those motors are about $6000.00, and money's an issue with me, especially that much! Then getting it put in, and anything else you run into.

Mine is just a play car. Gas mileage is no concern. The car has always had a four speed so i can't miss an overdrive i've never had.

Actually, i'd like to get a four plus one. The trans that has a fifth gear 1:1.

The new engines are great, but for the $$$$, more power is to be had at a much lower price. I like having no computer, a linkage clutch, and a carb. Just simplicity.

I was eyeing a ZR1 motor without ecm for 6500, but in the end I built an aluminum block, aluminum head 383GTA with Accel plenum, runners, and intake base. It came out to somewhere around 5000, but I think I am making close to the same power with more options to make more. The LS1 is a sweet motor and I would highly consider it. Those six bolt mains make it excellent for nitrous and positive pressure applications. Not to mention the electronics are freindly when it comes to upgrades. I spent 5000 on a motor and I am constantly burning chips to tweak it! When it is all said and done the bottom line is sanity and money!
