Whether or not you can use the cam depends upon the year of the block. '86-earlier, no. '87-later, yes, if the provisions for roller lifters have been machined.

Too many unknowns.

Do you know what this "new" 305 came out of?

I was hoping you knew what it came out of.

Start with the casting #'s on the block and heads.

If your TPI is '87, the center two bolt holes on each side of the intake base will be at a different angle than the bolt holes in the heads. You can get around that if you like. I believe the 801's also had smaller valves than the more common 416 3rd gen heads.

Other than that, your TPI and that engine should work together.

You can swap your current heads over to this engine.

You can't swap your current cam over to this engine. As to whether the cam that is in this other engine, most likely it will work with TPI, since most factory cams were pretty mild.
