l69???

Hey guys, I need some info help, heres what I'm thinking of doing. I have a 89 Camaro Irocz, the 305 block it done, crank journals scored. There is a guy that says he has a 83 305 H.O. that came from his camaro only 50,000 kms. I am wondering if I can use this engine. I researched and found that this was a carb. The guy had told me he thought it was TBI. From researching I think the l69 engine had a casting number 201?? please correct me if I'm wrong. Would I be able to use the tpi off my 89?? I know most of you guys will probably say go with a 350 ( thats my future goal) , but I just want to get the car on the road again. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, John

Except for the center two intake mount bolts on each side being at a different angle, no problem putting the TPI on it.

Re: l69???

Swap the heads and intake at the same time from your TPI motor, no need to worry about the intake bolt angle that way.

"HO" was what was put in and on the block, not the block.

"HO" was the cam, pistons (until '85), and exhaust, and the tuning.

TPI had as good of stuff as HO.

Ask him what the 8th character of his VIN is. If he says "H", it ain't HO.
