????vortec boat motor

I got this girl friend with a 2005 mastercraft boat that came with a vortec 350. She has more money than brains and didn't winterize it properly so now I have this vortec motor from a boat with less than 30 hours on it with a cracked block sitting in my garage for 2 years. I also have a vortec truck motor that has a good block but tons of miles on it.

First question: If I put all the insides of the boat motor into the truck block will the cam work with a tpi computer? The boat sounded pretty healthy so I think the cam is pretty stout. Any opinions on putting this in an '86 iroc?

Is there any thing else i can use these parts for

I know I''l need a different intake base, but what else will ineed to make this work?

Need to understand exactly what this "Vortec" engine is. In 2005, the "Vortec" engine being used was of the LSx variety. But, crate L31-type Vortec engines were still available.

Okay, that sounds reasonable.

Putting the engine in your '86 isn't a big issue. Did the engine with the cracked block get run after the block cracked? If so, the internals are probably shot. Have you checked out the cylinder walls of your high mileage block? If there is significant wear, it will have to be bored and the pistons/rings from the cracked block will be worthless (but the crank, rods, bearings, etc., should be fine as long as it wasn't run with water in the oil).

Basically, you need to check everything out to determine serviceability. As for putting an engine like that in your '86 TPI, you'll need a Vortec base, of course. But the truck cam would be fine with the TPI (should be roller lifters, if memory serves). Not a barn burner, but should have more power than the original 305.
