How to determine pushrods length

How do i do this? Should i buy one of those adjustable ones and then get a set? What are the factors that make them shorter or longer. I can't quite decide on the cam yet.. either the LT4 HOTCAM or the ZZ9. I will be running Sportsman II's. Will i need guide plates? I think thats all for now

The adkustable push rod is the way to go. Adjust it for the smallest contact patch between the rocker and the valve stem on top of the stem, using white lithium or gear marking compound.

Odds are, you'll find that the optimum length will be longer than stock, which is 7.290". Typically you can buy push rods in even .050" increments; I have usually ended up with 7.400" or 7.450" ones in motors with hot street rollers. Those are both pretty tame cams though, the stock length may be OK.

You need one of the following things:
  • Push rod slots in the heads that fit the push rods tightly (.015" is typical);
  • Guide plates;
  • Self aligning rockers.
One and only one of these systems should be present. I believe those heads come with big holes instead of slots, and guide plates; make sure of how they are equipped and make your rocker arm choice accordingly.
