New Heads!!!

I just bought a new set of EQ Vortec heads from eBay and I got a them for CHEAP, I got both heads brand new for $260. This is the best deal I found for a set of budget heads.
They are already machined for srew n rocker studs. The Guide od is .530"/.531" for standard PC type seal. The heads still have the big guide bosses. They have a thicker deck surface to. The valves are 1.94/1.5.
They heave a 3 angle valve job. And the best part about these is that there drilled for 69-86 intake pattern so i don't have to buy a new intake.

This is the first set of heads I ever bought and they look like really nice castings to me. There going on my 350 in a couple months after i get the rest of the valve train.
I plan on buying a Lunati 60104 cam&lifter set for the engine.

I got 4.10 gear with th350 rebuilt with a b&m stage 2 shift kit and a 3000 stall go with the combo. The intake is a eddy torquer 2 with a eddy 600cfm performer carb.
Plan on changing to a Holley 750 dp.

Do you guys think this is a good combination to get my camaro moving pretty fast.

+1. Terrible manifold. go performer rpm at the least.

and just because they are drilled for both bolt styles doesnt mean they should be run. (Pretty sure the vortecs are raised runner designs) Someone else can add to that if they want.

Yea, I hope the intake thing come together for you.. as i have never heard good things about drilling the heads for the different intake's.. I heard you can be chasing leaks, i hope this is not the case tho..for you

Re: New Heads!!!

These heads come with only the standard intake bolt pattern. They are NOT Drilled for Both Intake Patterns. The heads came New out of the EQ box like this, I did not drill them or have a shop do it so i'm sure intake sealing will be fine. I'll let you know for sure though when I put the engine back together.

As for the torquer 2 intake it is all I can afford at the moment got from a friend for cheap. I plan on upgrading to a weiand team g some day

A Performer RPM or Weiand Stealth would be a better match for that cam. Single plane intakes are for dedicated race cars.

Re: New Heads!!!

What make them "crap" ? Is there a difference from the regular RHS ? a side frome valve size?

Re: New Heads!!!

Who said the heads are crap? They're decent heads. I was bashing the Torker 2 intake. It really is junk.

Re: New Heads!!!

I was confused for a moment too, seeing as RHS markets them as the Torker cylinder heads LOL

Re: New Heads!!!

The big valve RHS Vortecs are marketed as Pro Torker heads. At least RHS has some right to use a name referencing torque. Their big valve Vortecs do out-flow all others, by far, and they do have the best combustion chambers as well, again by a measurable margin.
Would I pay the extra $280 for them? Yes.

Re: New Heads!!!

I know this post is a year old but the advertised RHS Pro-Torker Vortec flow numbers are generous at best. Go to Stan Weiss site & check out the numbers others have gotten with these heads, they're not that close. Not saying they aren't good heads, just don't take their numbers as gospel truth.
The EQ Vortecs are getting high marks from those who have bought them for how well machined & smooth the castings are, & the flow numbers are pretty consistent

That's good to hear......The heads are still sitting bare in my room haha, but i just ordered 2.02-1.60 summit stainless steel "racing valves" for them SUM-V8002-8, SUM-V8010-8. They came with 1.94-1.50. When they get here i'm going to drop them off at the machine shop.

There going on my 355 short block with a comp 292h cam an victor jr intake.....soon

Re: New Heads!!!

The sealing issue comes from the Vortec intake ports being taller than '55-'95 intake ports. You need to buy whatever intake gaskets Edelbrock recommends for that manifold, then compare them against the heads.
Don't be surprised if you can see ports above the tops of the gaskets.
