Looking Good, 500bux looks like a steal. I'm in the process of doing a 6.0 or an LS1 swap. Good luck on the build....

Re: 89 iroc z-28 blown motor swapping another 350 in
I am replacing it with a used 350 5.7 out of a 91 gmc truck but I am using all of the TPI components off of the camaro. The engine has some miles on it but got it for 350 bucks so it was a good deal and couldnt pass it up, my only other choice was a 454 but I need to pass smog and am saving the 454 for my 69 camaro.

did you think to put the Camaro cam and stuff into the truck block? You should (have). Also, those truck heads flow nowhere near what the Camaro's originals did, so be on the lookout for a mate to the one that didn't drop a valve.

Maybe, but you'd have a better chance with a stock thermostat, so why put in one that will keep the engine too cool?

Nice work in progress there. Glad to see you are adding detailed pics of before, during and after this install. The pic below post #3 show attention to detail. These pics also motivate me to go outside and tackle the intake manifold/ fuel rail assembly again. Thank you !

The next saga in this build thread is suspension, ordering some sportline eibachs for the Z should look good.

Re: 89 iroc z-28 blown motor swapping another 350 in
What a deal! For around $1000 total you have a car you could sell for about $3500. I'm sure you would rather enjoy it than sell it though. I also replaced my L98 with a truck engine and I didn't really notice a difference in power. The only way to really know is to race one with the original engine in it. Either way it's getting you down the road and puts another 3rd gen back on the streets
Good job!

Re: 89 iroc z-28 blown motor swapping another 350 in
thanks man, its having an idling issue as of tuesday night surging and smelling like its running lean, its either the MAF or I could have possibly got some bad gas because before the gas station it was running fine, I filled up got about 2 miles down the road and the service engine light comes on mmmhhh. It is only at idle speeds as well when driving under power its totally normal. Any ideas?

Re: 89 iroc z-28 blown motor swapping another 350 in
Do the paperclip trick and get the codes, that will start you down the right road. Might just be the idle air controller from what you described. When you insert the key do you go to key on (engine off) and wait a couple seconds? If not give that a try, my Fiero throws a code for the IAC and when I twist past key on without waiting it'll run like crap. Aside from the codes check for vacuum leaks and put some octane booster in it, maybe it is just the gas. Let us know what the codes are, the're the biggest hint to whats wrong.

we scanned it and it is the MAF when we unplugged it the car ran fine then plug it in and it started that rough idle again, so I am pickin one up soon and puttin it in.
