305 HO help?
305 HO help?
ok have a 84 trans am 5spd 305 HO needs a motor rebuild...ive read its better to swap in 350 for more hp and torque at a better price...some say 305's arent even worth rebuilding but i kinda wanna keep the L69? i know its kind of a vague question but how much am i looking at rebuild my motor and how much to sawp in a 350 in btw i live in socal

it all depends upon how much money you want to spend...swapping from a 305 to 350 will be cheaper and in the long run because you could get a lot more power out of it...as far as rebuilding your motor goes it depends it can cost you upto 2000 to 2500 just to get it rebuild to stock and if you just swap it out you can get a low mileage 350 for about 500 to 1000 and add another 400-800 for the swap...it really depends upon if you are going from carb to carb...tbi to tbi...tbi to tpi...or carb to tpi...
