Identifying Engine Issue :\
Identifying Engine Issue :\
I bought a 79 brown beauty and i was told the guy threw in a 350 from a chevy truck. I've pulled off almost all the numbers I can find off the block, head, etc - but I still haven't been able to ID what exactly the motor is.
I've got :
VO1214MD
Straight up googleing this ID code isn't giving me any success so I was hoping some of you might point me into the right direction or give me a quick run down of what I got under the hood. Anything I'll need to know in order to purchase the correct headers, carb, etc would be a great appreciation - I can post pics if their wanted. Thanks

Re: Identifying Engine Issue :\
Suffix code MD was used on 2 different engines.
1967 283, 195 HP, 2 bbl and had a 4 speed behind it.
1968 307, 200 HP, 2 bbl.
A casting number can confirm if it's one of these engines.

Re: Identifying Engine Issue :\
So basically the guy lied through his teeth, and there isnt a possibility of this being a 350?
I'll pull the casting numbers off next time I'm out. thanks for the help guys

Unless you can see it's numbers-matching, getting the casting #'s is Step 1 in "buyer beware".
Of course, even VIN stampings can be forged.
