Re: Emissions..?

lets seee........ most of them can be removed with a change of a few parts... older carb/holley? I can't quite tell but looks like there is a vac control on the thermostat housing? (i've seen it on older ones) you could replace the housing and just get rid of all of that...

not going to drive the same especially depending on what you do...

Re: Emissions..?

That's the heater diverter valve - you can take it out - it keeps hot coolant from circulating through the heater core unless your switches are set to WARM. You just have to rerun the heater hoses taking it out of the system, and plug the vacuum line going to it.

Just to post it and be clear because none of us would ever officially support this. It's illegal for anyone to remove any emissions equipment from any vehicle for any reason. That said, do whatever your concience lets you do.

I don't personally have a problem with it and I don't represent the web site in any official capacity, but I wanted that disclaimer up there. They should make a sticky for it if they already haven't. It's your car in the end.

Re: Emissions..?

by older i mean you could get an early 70's Q jet on summit rather than that one, they have a lot less junk on them, though i did see a holley 4bbl on summit the other day with a spread bore... looked nice to me?

What are you more interested in, a clean-looking engine compartment, or a car that runs well?

You can clean up some of the stuff, but you won't make it run better by putting on an older carb and distributor.

That round thing above the water pump is the vapor canister control valve. Doesn't have anything to do with the heater or coolant.

Ahhhh - your right - I see the lines running to the carb/tb now - at first I saw the round shape and the red heater hoses, but didn't look close enough to see the two were not connected. I'd never seen one of those before.
