The engine im putting in my 91 camaro
i have been doing my home work for a long time on what kinda of motor i want/need.
it needs to be different, not just a 350...
i decided on a 305 with a 400 crank(334) (all cast inturnals) and im going to run engine quest aluminum 305 heads and a comp ratio of 9.5, idk what type of pistons or how big of a dome but i was around 9.5, hooker 1 5/8 ceramic headers full length. i still dont know what cam, it needs to sound mean, but be streetable, this is a my daily driver. i thinking an Lt4 hot cam. im going to be using the TBI with a chip from TBIchips.com, and an rpm airgap intake. and the stock distributor.
i was thinkin close to 300 hp to the wheels.
can someone give me an estimate?
please dnt bash the ideal of a 305 stroker, i want to be different, its not a race car, i just want more power and something different.

I don't know about lately, but several years ago no one could get anything out of that TBIchips guy - good luck with it - it's going to take weeks to just get a chip that's decent enough to run on, and much longer to get any good programming - and then it'll never be a great tune, as it's just impossible to get a great tune without doing it yourself.

A 377 would be different, and better than a 334.

if it's what you want to do, go for it. 99.9% of the world isn't going to care, and ask you if you have cherry bombs on it. As far as chips go.. meh. Program your own. It's not that hard, and you get something tuned to your car, exactly, rather than tuned to some factory spec that never existed in the real world. (I'm lookin at you, hypertech).

i wish i could tune it myself, i just dnt know what i need or how to do it. lol i am honestly considering doing it myself.

Do you have a laptop? If so you can get the tuning tools for around the cost of a pre cut chip. Definitely a no brainer in my opinion.
Go out spend a few extra dollars and get a cam that will work well with the combo. Chances are a single pattern cam like the hot cam isn't it. It's a single pattern cam and with heads like Vortecs that is probably not the best idea. Because of the extra stroke and bore chances are you'd probably still be up there in compression even with 64CC heads and flat tops. Just something to keep in mind.
Something that was pointed out I'd consider is doing a 60 over engine if you do a stroker. More cubes on a block that's not really worth much more than scrap iron anyways. You'll have to bore it to do the stroke and get new pistons so you may as well go for all of it while you're at it. That would get you past 339 CID and deshroud the valves more. The other thing to consider with heads is that you're probably looking at a Vortec head if you use the EQ heads (I think they're Vortec anyways)
