350 Build for an HSR setup
Ok guys I'm about to send my 350 roller motor from my '89 GTA out to my engine builder but first I need to come up with my parts list. I'm not putting budget down as in issue because this car doesn't need to move any time soon.
First of all I got lucky and found a guy on craigslist who sold me a set of "062" casting Vortec heads for $150. I plan to do some mild port work and I'm going to have a talk with my engine guy on Monday to see if he has any experience with machine work for the extra lift on these heads.
My plans for the bottom end are .030 over Keith Black Hypereutectic flat top pistons. Hopefully I will get a 10:1 compression ratio out of this. Haven't decided whether or not I want to use the stock connecting rods, any thoughts? Everything will be topped off with arp fasteners.
So thusfar the only thing I am uncertain about is the cam which is the part I prefer to get right the first time. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of .510+ lift(assuming I find someone to work the heads). So what do you guys think? I am going to send comp cams an email and see what they recommend. It must be a hydraulic roller!
