I have been debating this for a while!

Okay I have owned 4 Third Gen Camaro's. They handle well and can get up and go when they need to. Where I live there is a lot of rich kids who buy the newest cars, ricing the imports and its really irritating when they look over and are like pfff he aint got ****. I have beaten my fair share, namely because the rich a holes are afraid to hit triple digits. Anyways I have been seriously debating putting either a 1100 hp twin turbo setup, under the hood, I have it measured out and a 2 in cowl hood will allow clearance for the setup. I would run a ram air setup to the turbochargers. Probably drop a ford 9 in in the rear, (I hate to do it, but Ford got the 9 in right). And obviously stiffen and support the frame etc, upgrade the tranny. And probably finish it off with a custom interior layout, Redesign the gauges and the dash to make it a more modern feel. The setup I would use would the Banks twin turbo package: http://www.bankspower.com/products/show/267/85

Or the other crazy idea which I cant seem to get out of my head would be to put a 6.6l Duramax diesel under the hood. Obviously more work, but for some reason the idea just keeps coming back and I dont know why. I have seen a couple fourth gen camaros with diesel swaps, but this idea just seems really appealing.

I would like to hear your advice and which way you think I should go.

Re: I have been debating this for a while!

um... why necissarly 1100hp? haha, that thing will be dangerous on the street to say the least.

I dont know if this is going be an DD or not but I say do either of these engines, they seem the most resonable

406 with aluminum heads, hsr or good carb, most defintly rebuilt to the max.

ls1/2/3 with rebuild and h/c/i

Both you will want to get everything forged.

Run an 150-200 shot

Strip out what you can/want of weight and rebuild/upgrade suspension/brakes.

also run with an rebuilt t56 with shift kit, vette servo, etc.

and yes, probaly an 9in furd rear end.

Your probaly want to run an 4in exhuast or atleast an good 3in with an large cut out.

say you do an ls3 build, raise hp/tq to say about 500 both, run that with an 200 shot, so an good 700 (flywheel) in an low 3000lb/high 2000's car will to say the least SCOOT!

Re: I have been debating this for a while!

1100 hp is a bit much like stated above if its a dd then that may be a little over kill.

i personally have been wanting to either drop an ltx or lsx into mine and through a 150 shot on it along with other bolt ons and gears it will be into the 11-10 sec range while still being streetable and if you have to pass emission you most likey will
