4th gen vs. 3rd gen

Hey I have searched and just need to know, are the 4th gen LT1 motor mounts going to fit in my 87?

No. All the parts in thirdgen V8 motor mounts must be used for a LT1 swap. Then the passenger side motor mount clamshell must be grinded down if using the a/c because the a/c compressor will hit it.

My car doesn't have factory ac. How hard is it to add with a 95 donor car? Also where is a good place to get v8 mounts? eBay ones won't ship to Canada and I'm assuming the dealership will be insane prices. Any online sources one could suggest? Thanks

I'd try a local salvage yard or ask on the classified section on here. For the a/c you will need all thirdgen parts except the lines that have to be custom made and LT1 compressor.

Are you trying to say that the 4th gen/LT1 motor mounts will not work in a 3rd gen? That you must use the 3rd gen motor mounts to put a LT1 in a 3rd gen?

lt1's have funky motor mounts IIRC, but the 3rd gen v6 mounts are different than the v8 mounts and you cant use them.

Yes.

Bolt the SBC clamshells to the LT1, and drop the LT1 onto the SBC lower mounts mounted in the v8 position on the K-member. Done.
