2.8 to 350 Swap
I have a 2.8 fuel injected thats working good but I am just wondering is it worth it to put in a built 350 and also will it bolt up to the 2.8 tranny the m5 i believe. If I put in a carbed 350 is this gonna invovle alot of modification to the wiring? and if i buil it to about 350ish horse is that gonna blow the tranny or rearend to peices?

Ok on a 1-10 scale what would you rate the difficulty. I actually havent driven the car yet i bought it for $500 in pretty good shape but needs clutch, brake pads and shoes, and hydralic steering hose. So the plans are to replace those and then the motor i am thinking of doin a mild cam with about 115 seperation i think with the refurbed vortecs to keep with the iroc theme (even though its an rs)and just make it pretty haha

The V6 T5's have a smaller input shaft than the V8 T5's. If you go through the hoops necessary to mount a V6 T5 behind a V8, you'll have to baby the car like it like nobody's business - i.e., drive it like it still has a V6 in it.
The rears are the same, though, whether V6 or V8 (with regard to strength - gear ratios could be different). If you get a transmission strong enough for the V8, the rear will be the next weak link.

Re: 2.8 to 350 Swap
conventional wisdom says it's easier and cheaper to buy a car that has a V8 in it than turn a V6 car into a V8 car
It depend how much HP you are wanting. If you are looking for around 200, you can get that from a 3.4 with upgrades.

Re: 2.8 to 350 Swap
The 350 most likely will not bolt in because the 2.8 v6 has a metric bolt pattern... I tried to put in a 1988 1500 350 transmission in my 2.8 when my old transmission went out but it wouldn't bolt up

However, the V6 T5 bolt pattern to the bell housing is the same as the V8 T5 bolt pattern to the bell housing. That doesn't mean a whole lot because of what I said above.
