It would be a direct swap? I'm not really understanding what you are asking... any small block chevy (gen 1) will fit without any difficulty.

No, I wouldn't think it would cause you to get in any loud public arguments.

Any gen 1 block is a direct swap as long as it's still the same rear main (otherwise you are changing the flexplate/flywheel) and as long as the heads have the same accessory bolt holes.

As far as LS1/LT1 it's way more complex. You need to change the harness/ecu/fuel pump. I've never done this, probably a PITA.

You are taking a SBC out and putting a SBC back in.

Everything you have now will fit new engine
UNLESS
engine is older version with different number of bolt holes on the front of heads for accessories
Need to compare YOUR 2 engines side by side to see if anything obviously different;
dipstick on opposite side / . flywheel size, etc
You are the only one that can do that ; we don't have ESP

Re: desperatly need help

These guys are telling you no motor mount mods are needed. 350, 383 400 327 305 will all have the same mount pattern on the block. Your accessories, same thing as long as the heads have the 3 bolt holes in them which they probably do.

a 383 shortblock, lots of tools, lots of time, few extra bucks for gaskets and fluids.
