Nice daily budget engine?
The stock 305 in my car isn't cutting it. Its old, and just doesn't put out the power. On the other hand, it does save me some gas, and being that it is my daily driver, thats a good thing.
However, I have been reading up and looking at all kinds of engines, and the ones that catch my attention are the 327 and the 383 stroker.
I am looking for a good amount of power in the 360-400 horses range. What I'd really like is to have that low end torque to take off quickly, and the 327, I'm not sure is the best for that.
So if you were in my position with a "budget", would you go with a stroked engine (383), or the de-stroked engine (327).
Thanks.

360-400 HP measured how?
Which is your highest priority, power, torque, or budget?
A wise man once said, "Tell me how much money you have, and I'll tell you how fast you can go."
His cousin said, "Tell me how fast you want to go, and I'll tell you how much it will cost."
My rule of thumb is, "Plan on spending as much handling the power as you spend making it." So, if you spend $3k on an engine, plan on $3k in transmission, rear end, and suspension upgrades. If you spend $4k on an engine, plan on another $4k for the rest, etc.
