ok so i went from my stock 305 to a swapped 1980 350 so i got the engine in with most of the acc hooked up put my battery in and no power!!!
i went and got my battery tested and it reads 12.33v 741 cca out of 800 cca put new battery post on and i know i have power going thru wires but no power to the dash when i turn the key......im wondering if theres anything i may be forgetting or not checking?

How many wires do you have connected to the power terminal on the starter? Make sure to check all fuses as well.

If thats the case, than that is your problem. That power is hitting into the starter, but then stopping right there, and not getting through the firewall. There should be a (thick red?) wire that runs from the starter as well and goes into the C100 (The wiring bulkhead near the brake booster) and into the cab to power everything else up. Find that wire and connect it.

I agree. And just to save yourself from a head ache later on, make sure the chassis and engine block are grounded and bonded. If they are not bonded your gauges will work right and everything will be dim just to name a few.

Two of the red wires you are holding go to the same terminal on the starter as the positive wire from the battery. The other one I believe is the starter solenoid wire.

Re: NO POWER AFTER ENGINE SWAP
In other words ... ALL wires go to the starter larger terminal (which includes all the red fusible links, as well as the pos battery cable), EXCEPT for the purple wire, which runs all by itself to the smaller terminal on the starter.
