it has a 5.7 liter but is it the ls block or jus a gen 1 small block

 

It is a 5.7 vortec, small block. Not a LS series motor.

 

so i cant get rid of vortex intake and put a ls intake on then right jus want be a 100 percent sure thanks

 

If it is just the standard SBC with vortec heads, than the only real noteable difference is that the heads have a different intake bolt pattern. No an LS intake will not bolt on, its just an SBC.

 

...and just happens to have the best heads the factory ever put on an SBC.

The induction system the factory put on those engines, though, was pretty lame. There are plenty of good intake manifolds available for that engine for you to put most anything else (other than LSx) on it.

2000-up Suburbans got the LSx engines, for what that's worth.

 

Yeah, I know about the Vortec heads, they're what I used with my first engine build. I was pretty much just saying in regards to his specific question, that it's not the engine he was hoping for.

 

Everybody here is giving you good info. I dont know if you are carbed or injected but that 1999 block does not have any provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. If you are carbed, your gonna need an electric fuel pump and a regulator.
