83 305 Carb to 88 305 TBI
How costly would this swap be? Would i need a new fuel pump? The 83 305 carbed is out of my trans am and the engine is seized. The 88 is out of a camero and includes all the wiring and ecu.
This is my long term project and i have plenty of time to do the work. Im just wondering if its gonna break the bank or if its compatible with the original five speed in the trans am.
Any help is appreciated

Yikes - there's nothing worse in this world than the TBI fuel injection. Do yourself a favor - you have a totally legal carbed car (what the rest of us dream about) - leave it that way!
If you swap, you'll have to take the TBI harness, all the sensors, the computer, etc. Might as well just drive the TBI car as to swap everything over like that. BIG waste of time and effort for ZERO gain of any kind.
KEEP THE CARB!!!

The T5 will bolt up, What I am not sure about is if your 83 was internally balanced or externally balanced, the reason being is I believe the flywheel will be different. Not really sure on that one though. I Just went of a 91 305 to a 86 305 and the T5 bolted right up. The pilot bearing is the same part number from timkin. The TBI has its benifits over carb, just as carb has its own. The tbi is computer controlled, no need to constantly retune your tbi, the computer does that for you. Better fuel economy and hp if dealing stock to stock. (so do not quote me on the hp) I believe that the stock tbi unit flows 520-540 cfm and can support up to 300hp. I guess if you can get the fuel lines from the tank so that you can route the tbi fuel lines to the tbi. As for the fuel pump, get a tpi fuel pump. Do not waste your time putting in a tbi pump because they suck, haha.

O, as well, you cannot use the 83 intake manifold without modifying it some. The inner 4 bolt holes are straight up and down on the 88. So, if you take your 83 heads and put them on, you can reuse it, just buy the adapter plate. Don't pay over 55 dollars for it. As well, I had to use a spacer of some kind to get the bolts to hold snug. I have a nut under each bolt so that they would hold right. haha. Whatever works right?
