i have an 82 camaro with a 305 tpi in it i thought came out of an 87 but, it has an hei distributor in back of motor not on the nose i got a wiring harness but it is set up for a nose mounted. i need to know can anyone tell me what year harness i need to get

 

what do you mean nose mounted? TPI motors all had HEI's mounted in the back of the engine. Some had small cap and some had large cap. If you have a large cap in your motor and your harness is for the small cap. You could swap the distributor and external coil on instead of changing the harness.

 

well i was told it might have been something like that but the alternator wires don't plug up and the distributor wires i was told the pick up wiring will not match up

 

tpi wasn't avail 82' is this an incomplete swap?what did the 82 have originally,'it will need more than a harness to run TPI
