Engine swap in California

Ok so i dont need to change my engine. But i was thinking that one day i would swap for maybe an ls1 or zl6 but im not sure how that would effect smogging the car. If anyone knows smog laws in california pertaining to engine swaps i would appreciate it if you could share. Thanks for reading

Re: Engine swap in California

The only guaranteed legal option is to buy a complete '98-'02 Z28 / Formula / Trans Am donor, probably totalled, and swap everything over. The Y-pipe won't fit, that'll require a bit of work.
From there, any parts that are Cali-legal for your donor will be legal for you.
Now, what you can get away with is slightly different. Want to use an LS3? That can be done. Want to use a 224-114 cam? That can pass, too. And there's too much to list, really.
