Which starter to get???
Which starter to get???
Hey guys I have an 89 Iroc. I threw out the stock 305 tpi and dropped in a carburated 383. I was ready to fire but the car wouldnt turn. Turns out the battery was bad. I bought a new battery and tried again, but it still didnt turn, although this time is was more aggressive. I think my stock starter doesn't have enough juice.
What do you guys recommend I get? I heard that stock 4th gen starters are high torque. This true? I've found generic starters on ebay for $70 or so. Summit recommends a Powermaster starter for $190. A stock 4th gen starter goes for $170 at Autozone.
Not sure what to do guys......

No problems after 2 years with my ebay $80 starter - hi-torque mini that works with staggered or iline configuration.

Buy a new one not rebuilt. difference is a $5 core with new, $25 core with rebuild.
I just bought a new one with life time warranty. Same price as rebuilt. They are all made in Mexico. Good luck!
