carb 305 too....TPI??
carb 305 too....TPI??
Hope i put this in the right place, if not sorry.
Im posting this thread looking for Opinions, advice, anything. Im on a budget, but will be doing work myself.
Car im asking about is 89 Iroc, that from factory was 5.7 tpi (auto) 2.77 posi rear.
PO(idiot)
put pos*** 305 with quadjet (hooked to 700r4).
The car is still all original except for motor and fuel pump, They left the original wireing but spliced in for connections they needed.
Now what i would like too do is turn it into a daily driver and mustang killer all in one. The body is flawless thankfully.
Would like to put at least original 350 tpi back in or even add something a little more potent, Such as 383 Carbed or even 427 if i could find a nice deal.
I have nothing against carbs but love the more precision and reliability of tpi.
SO what i asking is what do you think would be the best results for money. I think just putting a tpi 350 back in would be the best bang for buck???
The car is a daily driver but will get a good dose of track time.
Thanks in advance!!

Im in the process of switching back to tpi if u do decide to go with the tpi an want to get alittle more power out of it I would suggest putting a Holley stealth ram intake on it alot cheaper the doing a whole aftermarket edelbrock tpi
Re: carb 305 too....TPI??
Thanks for the reply, if i go tpi im going to try to find a 350 tpi motor and just pull and rebuid, then swap. this just seems the most cost effective way??

if you want more power, id go with a vortec engine from a 90s truck, rebuild that, upgrade the cam to something better, then throw something like the stealth ram on it.

for everything ive read/heard about the vortecs, porting and polishing doesnt do much. and if done wrong can actually make them flow WORSE. im sure just a quick going over to clean up some of the casting flash and a gasket match would be plenty. and cleaning up the exhaust ports and giving them a polish cant hurt im sure.
